Your financial year has ended. Your accounts should now give you clarity, not another layer of administration.

Top Bookkeeping Services UK provides Year-End Accounts Services for UK limited companies, covering statutory accounts preparation, Corporation Tax calculations and the required online filings.

Our end of year accounts service covers the full process, from the initial records review through to director approval and final submission. Whether your bookkeeping is ready or requires further attention, you receive a clear scope, estimated completion date and agreed fee before work begins.

Year-End Accounts for Limited Companies

Limited companies must prepare annual accounts using their financial records for each company financial year. These accounts show the company’s income, costs, assets, liabilities and overall financial position.

We bring the accounting and filing work into one managed service. Your records are reviewed, statutory accounts are prepared, Corporation Tax is calculated and the relevant documents are presented for approval before submission.

The approved annual accounts are filed with Companies House. Your Company Tax Return, including the CT600 and supporting tax computation, is submitted separately to HMRC using appropriate commercial filing software.

What Our Year-End Accounts Services Include

The service covers the core accounting work normally required to prepare and file limited company accounts. The scope is confirmed at the beginning, so you know what is included before work starts.

Additional bookkeeping or correction work is identified separately. Nothing outside the agreed scope is added without first explaining the requirement and likely cost.

Bookkeeping Records Review

We review your bank balances, income, expenses, payroll, VAT and bookkeeping reports to identify missing entries, unreconciled figures or transactions requiring clarification.

Statutory Accounts Preparation

Your financial records are used to prepare annual statutory accounts in the reporting format appropriate for your company, including the relevant statements and disclosures.

Year-End Accounting Adjustments

Accruals, prepayments, depreciation, fixed assets, liabilities and director transactions are reviewed and adjusted so the accounts reflect the correct accounting period.

Corporation Tax Calculation

Taxable profits, allowable business expenses and relevant tax adjustments are reviewed to calculate your expected Corporation Tax liability for the accounting period.

CT600 Preparation and Submission

The Company Tax Return, CT600 and supporting Corporation Tax computation are prepared from the approved accounts and submitted electronically to HMRC.

Companies House Accounts Filing

Your approved statutory accounts are filed with Companies House in the appropriate format. Submission confirmation is provided once filing has been completed.

Draft Accounts and Director Approval

You receive the draft accounts and Corporation Tax calculation before filing, giving you an opportunity to review the figures and raise questions.

Benefits of Our Year-End Accounts Service

Well-prepared accounts do more than meet an annual filing requirement. They give you reliable figures for understanding performance, planning tax payments and making informed business decisions.

The service reduces the administrative work involved while keeping you informed and in control of the final figures.

Our Year-End Accounts Process

The process is organised around clear information, timely review and director approval. You know what is required at each stage and what will happen next.  Queries are raised together wherever possible, helping to reduce unnecessary emails and keep the accounts moving towards completion.

Company Details and Filing Dates

We confirm your company information, financial year-end, Corporation Tax accounting period, current bookkeeping position and relevant filing dates.

Accounting Records Received

Your bookkeeping reports and supporting documents are shared using your accounting software or another agreed digital method.

Records and Tax Review

The figures are reviewed, missing information is identified and the necessary reconciliations and accounting adjustments are completed.

Draft Accounts Prepared

Your statutory accounts, Corporation Tax calculation and Company Tax Return are prepared using the reviewed financial information.

Director Review and Approval

You receive the completed figures for review and can ask questions before authorising the final submissions.

Filing and Confirmation

The approved accounts are filed with Companies House and the Company Tax Return is submitted to HMRC. Filing confirmations are then provided.

Year-End Accounts Costs and Completion Times

The cost of Year-End Accounts Services depends on the condition of your bookkeeping, transaction volume, reporting requirements and the complexity of the company’s financial activity.

Straightforward accounts with complete bookkeeping normally cost less and take less time than accounts requiring corrections or catch-up work. Most standard cases can be completed within 7–15 working days after all required records have been received.

The following prices and timings are initial estimates. A written quotation and expected completion date are confirmed after reviewing your company details and bookkeeping position.

Standard Year-End Accounts

Estimated price: From £499 plus VAT
Estimated turnaround: 7–10 working days

Suitable for a small limited company with complete, reconciled bookkeeping and no unusual or complex transactions.

The service includes records review, statutory accounts preparation, Corporation Tax calculation, CT600 preparation, Companies House filing and HMRC submission.

Accounts With a Detailed Records Review

Estimated price: From £749 plus VAT
Estimated turnaround: 10–15 working days

Suitable where bookkeeping has been maintained but requires additional reconciliations, corrections or year-end accounting adjustments.

The service includes the standard filing work alongside a closer review of bank balances, expenses, assets, liabilities, payroll and director transactions.

Bookkeeping Catch-Up and Filing

Estimated price: From £999 plus VAT
Estimated turnaround: 15–25 working days

Suitable where transactions are missing, bookkeeping is incomplete or bank balances have not been reconciled.

The final quote depends on the volume of transactions, condition of the records and amount of catch-up work required before accounts preparation can begin.

Pricing and Timeline Disclaimer

The prices and completion times shown above are estimates for guidance and do not constitute a binding quotation.

Your final fee may vary according to transaction volume, turnover, VAT registration, payroll, stock, foreign-currency activity, bookkeeping quality and the complexity of the company’s financial affairs.

Confirmation Statement filing, director Self Assessment, VAT corrections, payroll reconciliation, amended accounts and urgent work are priced separately unless expressly included in your written quotation.

Completion times begin once the required records and responses have been received. Client approval time and delays in providing information are not included in the estimated turnaround.

No additional chargeable work begins until the requirement, scope and cost have been explained and agreed.

Records Needed for Year-End Accounts

The records required will depend on your business activities, accounting software and transactions during the financial year. Providing complete information at the beginning helps reduce queries and keeps the preparation process on schedule.

We review what is already available before requesting anything further. Where documents or figures are missing, you receive a clear list of the outstanding information.

When Are Year-End Accounts and CT600 Due?

For most private limited companies, annual accounts are due nine months after the financial year-end. Corporation Tax is normally payable nine months and one day after the Corporation Tax accounting period, while the Company Tax Return is due within 12 months.

These are separate obligations with separate dates. First accounts, extended accounting periods and certain company circumstances may result in different filing requirements.

Penalties for Late Year-End Filing

Companies House automatically applies a penalty when annual accounts are filed late. Current private-company penalties range from £150 for accounts no more than one month late to £1,500 where the delay exceeds six months.

The Companies House penalty doubles when accounts are filed late in two successive financial years. Directors also remain legally responsible for ensuring acceptable accounts reach Companies House before the deadline.

For Company Tax Returns due from 1 April 2026, HMRC flat-rate late-filing penalties start at £200. A further £200 applies when the return remains outstanding for more than three months, with higher penalties possible for repeated or substantially overdue returns.

Top Bookkeeping Services UK confirms the relevant dates during the initial review. However, the company director remains legally responsible for ensuring the company meets its filing and payment obligations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are End of Year Accounts the Same as a Company Tax Return?

No. End of year accounts, also called annual or statutory accounts, report the company’s financial performance and position and are filed with Companies House.

A Company Tax Return, known as the CT600, uses the approved accounts to calculate Corporation Tax and is submitted separately to HMRC.

Yes. A dormant limited company must normally continue filing annual accounts and a Confirmation Statement with Companies House, even when it is dormant for Corporation Tax.

A qualifying small dormant company may be able to file simpler dormant accounts.

A company director can prepare and file company accounts, provided the documents meet the relevant legal, accounting and filing requirements.

Since 1 April 2026, commercial software is generally required to submit a Company Tax Return to HMRC. Paper filing is available only in limited circumstances, such as having a reasonable excuse or filing in Welsh.

First company accounts commonly cover more than 12 months because they begin on the incorporation date and end on the accounting reference date set by Companies House.

A Corporation Tax accounting period cannot normally exceed 12 months, so two Company Tax Returns may be required. First accounts are usually due 21 months after incorporation.

Many small private companies qualify for audit exemption. For financial years beginning on or after 6 April 2025, a company may qualify where it meets at least two applicable limits:

  • Turnover of no more than £15 million
  • Assets of no more than £7.5 million
  • An average of no more than 50 employees

An audit may still be required because of the company’s articles, group position, activities or a qualifying shareholder request.
